All my lessons take place in the lounge of my house on Woodville Road in High Barnet, north London. I live 10 minutes walk away from High Barnet underground station (Northern line) and just a few minutes from the 184 and 383 bus routes. There is plenty of free parking available on the road. Exact details of my address are sent out following booking.

You can cancel your lesson up to a week in advance to receive a refund. After that time I will not refund you, however I am happy to reschedule the lesson if you contact me prior to the day of the lesson. To contact me please email ruthssewingstudio@gmail.com .

I teach beginner sewing lessons for anyone who has never sewn before or who just needs some help learning basic skills such as sewing in zips, bagging out, button holes, zig zag stitch etc. I am happy to teach how to make small items. All lessons come with supporting handouts to help you sew independently and give you advice on how to progress. My lessons are not for advanced sewers.

No! I am happy to teach using my own sewing machine, a JL 220. However, if you do own your own sewing machine it will help you progress faster if you bring it with you. If you want to purchase a sewing machine but don't know where to start, I am happy to make suggestions of different models and where to purchase them. You can start to learn without your own machine, but if you want to improve and get confident sewing, having your own to practise on regularly makes a huge difference.

A 90 minute one to one private lesson costs £45. I you would like a longer session or have a specific request please contact me at ruthssewingstudio@gmail.com and I will send you a quote. All payments are made via Paypal Invoice. You do not need your own PayPal account as you can pay using your debit or credit cards. Invoice is sent via email and payment is needed in advance of the lesson to secure the booking and receive full details.
