A standard private, 90 minute lesson costs £45. Lessons usually run during the day between 10am and 2.30pm weekdays, or weekends after 11am. To check availability and book a lesson, you'll need to email me at ruthssewingstudio@gmail.com . I usually reply within 48 hours, so if you haven't received a response to your inbox, please check your junk folder.
If you have a specific request for a lesson such as a parent and child lesson or learning to make a specific item, please let me know and I can give you a quote to cover time and materials.
All invoices are sent via Paypal and can be paid using debit or credit cards. Payment is needed in advance before the lesson can be confirmed. Full details and receipt will be emailed once payment is received.
If you need to reschedule, please get in touch as soon as possible. Refunds are only available if the lesson is cancelled one week in advance.

All my lessons take place from my house on Woodville Road, High Barnet, north London. There is plenty of free, on street parking outside and I am near to transport links. My house is 10 minutes walk downhill from High Barnet underground station (Northern line) and just a few minutes walk from the 184 and 383 bus stops.

The lessons are tailored to the individual. I provide all materials and tools as well as the use of my John Lewis 220 sewing machine. If you have your own machine it is best to bring it with you if possible. A beginner's lesson starts with how to thread a sewing machine, what the different settings do and then how to sew. If there is time in the lesson, we will make something small that you can keep. I provide handouts with problem solving tips, common sewing terms as well as suggestions for essential and helpful tools and where to buy them.
Most people find they need two lessons to help gain confidence and learn additional skills, for example how to sew a zipper or button hole. I am happy to teach any basic sewing skills such as problem solving tips, sewing zips, zig zag stitch, bagging out, sewing curves, button holes etc. If you are unsure, please email me at ruthssewingstudio@gmail.com and I will be happy to answer any questions.
